What kind of batts are they (cell type and configuration). How long you intending on storing them for?

I would recommend fully charging them before storing them away for the season

i was always told that your never store your batteries fully charged! everyone tells that if your only storing them for like a few months, then discharge them and then charge them back up to about half a charge and then store them away!

if you are putting them away for longer then you dead short them!

Since these sound like sealed RX packs, you never want to dead short them. Dead shorting is for putting shorts on each cell and normally done to Sub C sized racing packs to decrease internal resistance.

Sounds crude, but find one automotive tail light bulb and use it to discharge these packs. Unplug the bulb when it goes out.

It's a good idea to cycle the packs here and there to keep them healthy. Monthly is great, once every 2 months if you are busy. After several months when you do need to use them, give them a few cycles and make sure the packs are still good before you run them.
