The screw part of the bottle is probably 1 1/2" dia.

I got some more cutting done. Trim'd up the back plate of the motor box. It seams like a lot of work to save so little wight......oh well an oz here and an
oz there will all add up. I hope.....

I also got out shopping today. found a 1.5l water bottle that might work.
Just a few ??? It's not smooth like the fiji's or a pepsi one. will that be a prob with the clunk? Also when i mount them should I put it over the wing tube? or down lower infront of it????

Hi Mike, for what its worth, on my last plane I used a smaller fiji water bottle.
DLE 55.
I used a PSP cap shown below. I cut the bottom off the red psp fitting so that it sat flush on the original cap. Then I drilled a hole in the original bottle cap just big enough to fit the stopper through and used it with a regular backing plate. Worked great. No leaks so far.
I think you could do this on any sized cap.
