There are a couple different ways. 1/8 inch 5 ply works good, but you would need a scroll
saw to cut . Or you could use 3/ 8 inch maple beam mounts across the fuselage. Depends on type of plane ?? Or I have a new molded plastic tray here for Futaba radio if that helps you? |

If the old one is "cracked" in half why not just repair the crack and then reinforce it to make it stronger than the original was.

OK
Just copy the old one. Like Cassat posted. If there is more damage then a photo would help. |

Re: How The Heck do I build a servo tray
Alternate would be to go to a beam approach -- using 1/4x5/8 basswood running across the fuselage, with a 1/8 liteplay support on either fuselage side to brace things. Support would have notches in the upper side to take the basswood (5/8 wide by 1/4 deep).
Of course, if you need the strength of the supports and a tray (eg, flying really big models with 3D actions), you might have to go to more wood. Lots of websites that cover the basics. Do some research. |

Re: How The Heck do I build a servo tray
Hi MIKE,
I have a whole bag full of servo trays, if you want one, come on over and pick one out. Or, as an alternative, I could show you how to build a plywood one. Fly4Fun, Wayne |

Mike,
You may consider this a low blow but I get my shots in when I can. Before you fix the servo tray, figure out left from right! Ed S P.S. Tell your Dad I am home from the Nats and ready to go. Last edited by Ed Smith; 07-21-2008 at 07:22 AM. |
