Question ---- Where do you get the clear fuel tanks that you install in your builds , and do they come with all the fittings ????

I watch all your build threads and get good ideas !! Good luck with your next flight with the Pitts -- i think you have it wright now with the wing wires !! I like how you include your Son in your hobby --- I can see a Father and Son Show Team with in about 5 years time !!!

Hi Ray!!!

Yep... My oldest is always with me these days and thinks the hobby is so cool... Honestly, the big Pitts is his and this year we're going to do the buddy box thing with the Pitts (I'll just assign him a channel like smoke or rudder for now)

Normally the bottles I use are water or pop bottles and I just buy the Sullivan or Dubro stopper kit. The bottles used on this build are from 3W and sold by aircraftinternational.com and come with all the fittings. However, I'd take the water bottle option any day.. Way cheaper and less weight!!!!

Take care

Trev

The CF cloth / laminating epoxy is curing on the foam baffle plate I made up for the tunnel. Tonight I'll install the baffleplate to seal off the front of the fuse from the radio area...

Next... the wing-fuse attachment hardpoints.

You would expect this step to already be done on an ARF, but not here!! Each wing has a dowl at the LE and TE that I had to make up little donuts and install. Then, the fuse had to be opened up for the servo wires. Then, another donut installed for the 5mm wing bolt.

2 hours of work here

What I will give 3W credit for is the fit of the curved & angled wing root to the contoured fuse sides - perfect fit

Next step was the radio tray!!

I picked up a panel of fiberglass-skinned, 1/4" thick, Rohacell core from The Composites Store while I was in Toledo... ultra stiff and superlight!!!

the SWB servo tray is in place and I'll anchor down the radio gear once I do a final balance check!!

Re: BBT Assembly Thread - 35% 3W Extra 330 (Stage 3)

Last thing completed last night was to glue in the rudder post with 45min epoxy and then glue in the hinges!! This morning, I then recovered the rudder post with bright-yellow Monokote and overlapped it onto the raw edge of the fiberglass fin for a clean finish

It's starting to look pretty sharp!!! Lots of work, but the fit/finish and paint job is pretty incredible!!!

Re: BBT Assembly Thread - 35% 3W Extra 330 (Stage 3)

Hi Trevor, looking good.
Quick question regarding the water bottle tanks.
Do you seal the cap with a sealant. I have a fiji bottle. Cap asembly from TBolt. PSP I think.
Hoping to do an engine run today on the DLE 55.

Thanks Trevor
