I will (try to) use Goblin 630-700 mecanics with three bladed head and 600mm scale blades into my AS-350. I checked with an Allied 700DFC main shaft and it would fit perfectly with slight modifications. I plan to use the TF electrical tail rotor which is on it's way...

Now the question, how about using one 6s 3300 mah plus 6s 5000 mah? I would power the tail out of the 5000mah on it's own ESC as well as the main motor's ESC hooked up to both. This would save weight and as long as I have five minutes flight I will be happy. My Taranis radio will be perfect for the mixing. Any comments?

I would caution against using 700 size mechanics in a 600 body. You will find you will be cutting the boom, looking for some special belt, and trying to make something that sounded like a good idea work when it is stacked against you. However, it's your build.

As far as the battery idea, not a good one. Use separate packs to monitor usage and get an idea how much energy you will use. I don't like seeing people attempt to save on batteries when they are the cheapest thing against the cost of a crash because of trying to save space (which you have lots of) or money which you are trying hard not to spend. There are lots of different ways to build this helicopter without making it frustrating. Good luck.

TF tail rotor has a direct drive brushless motor, no TT cutting involved. It's designed for 600-700 size. Goblin mecanics without belt or torque tube drive fit nicely inside the fuselage using a longer main shaft. I see it as a very interesting project.

It's in, complete with tail rotor and 60A ESC, all one needs is provide 550-700 T-Rex tail boom tube. Good for a project with port side tail rotor turning in the right direction.

Fair enough. Now that you have that in mind, I want to offer a good tip. Put some sort of a tube that directly attaches itself to the main chassis and then heads down the body boom to help in keeping the mechanics from torqueing out of the body. It has happened unless the builder or kit designer specifically put bulkheads in the body to firmly anchor the mechanics. A number of couple of years ago, a fellow built a UH-60 along the lines of what you are thinking of doing. What he didn't do was to install the boom since he used a belt drive or electric drive and didn't have the boom on to prevent the chassis from twisting. When you combined it with a very poorly glued in framework, the disaster happened on its maiden flight right on camera. Hope this helps your build. Take care.

Yes Don, this is what I had in mind thanks for the tip. Nothing cut yet, just doing maths. As soon as I get the TF tail rotor system I will have a good idea of the tailboom size it requires and have plenty of them to experiment. Just placed an order at Rotorquest to rebuild the Goblin to make it a 630 since I have a spare tail boom and will proof the setup with it. I might also have another body (used) in sight to do so. I read all your threads on the the rotor heads, another interesting topic lol...
Now work on the EC-145 today for a change .

Major heading change lol. I switched to T-REX 700e DFC with three bladed 12mm head. Goblin will be spared for soon to be project. Today I cut sideframes for proper height. Tailboom is from TT 600 efl but I retained the 700 gearbox, there's room for 105mm or less TB. Two blade head will be discarded and special main shaft cut to raise 3 blade head a bit.
