Long Glow Plugs

Hello,

What brand of glow plug are most people using in their .40's and 60
2 strokes these days? I used to use the K&B 1L, but they are hard to find
nowadays.

..

OS 8's, OS 4 cycle plugs and hangar 9 super plugs. Whatever anybody tells you, don't ever run a Fox R/C long plug. I've diagnosed more engine problems without ever having seen or heard the engine running just becuase of the Fox plug.

Joining in with the choir here.

OS #8 for the smaller 2 strokes

A3 for the larger, higher compression engines

OS F for four strokes

Glow Plugs

Hi,

I carry most plugs in my kit, but contrary to what Ramz-to-tha-Z said, I usually end up going back to Fox Long Idlebar plugs. The price is right and they peform well. The OS plugs do work well, but are not nearly as consistance in performance for me and are more expensive. I find that with other plugs, I have to sometimes try a few until I get one that works well and lasts a long time.

This is not to say they are the best plug, but they are the ones that work well for me.

I know there will be a lot of people who dissagree.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne Miller

Hi Wayne,

I think a lot depends on the type and setup of engine you're using. Simply put, some engines like hot plugs, some do not. If I don't know a particular engine, I'll start out with a #8 but, if it starts predetonating, I'll go to a cooler plug, often a fox.

Morning All

My flying mates are always after me for my used heli plugs. These are the Enya 3.

Jim,
I agree as it is in your setup. Compression and timing is the big part which is why a lot of manufacturers make different heat settings so it will change the timing all be it very small.
I use KB 1L's mainly as that is what I have (quite a few) and they have not given me much problem's. Besides the manufacturers would not be making them if they did not work.
Just my opinion.
John
