Fast Electric RC boat, which one to buy?
Im interested in getting a fast electric RC boat. I've been looking at the CEN Aqua Jet 775 and the Aqua Craft Super Vee 27. Both have brushless motors. Although I haven't actually seen these RC boats but i've seen them in the internet and the YOU TUBE. They seem really fast. Which one is really fast without an upgrade? Which one is a better boat?

Re: Fast Electric RC boat
Go with the supervee 27.
There's lots more information here: www.rumrunnerracing.com www.offshoreelectrics.com Electrics are the way to go if you want to go fast, the nitro's can't touch the speeds the modern electrics achieve. Regards, Nathan |

Re: Fast Electric RC boat
Thanks so much Nathan! I'll get the super vee 27. I believe you're from Alberta. There are 3 stores in Alberta I found online. They're the Great Hobbies, the Action Hobby and the Hobby Wholesale. Are you familiar with these stores? If you are, which store shall I buy the super vee 27?

Re: Fast Electric RC boat
I deal with great hobbies the most, as their website is easier to order off of and usually is right up to date on in stock items.
Hobby wholesale is good too, there website isn't as nice, but it's a decent store. Regards, Nathan |

Re: Fast Electric RC boat
In some YOUTUBE videos of the Aqua Craft Super Vee 27, some RC boaters use 14 cell batteries. And they're really fast. What does 14 cell battery mean? Does it mean two 8.4 volt batteries? I believe an 8.4 battery pack is 7 cell. Original battery of the super vee 27 are two 7.2 V nimh battery pack. If two 8.4 V batteries are used, will it not burn the motor?

Re: Fast Electric RC boat
I believe that most find an SV27 plenty fast without changing the motor or esc. In fact, the issue you will likely have is controlling her at top speed. If you power her with 2S lipos she'll be even faster. Lots of clubs use it as a stock class since how you drive and how you set it up can make a big difference.
I bought a BJ26 as a first FE and have been pleased with it. It's got a similar top end but seems a bit more stable. I think if I were buying today, I would choose a UL-1 from Aquacraft. Which ever way you go, it is a blast |
