In an emergency I've used fingers, hands, forearms, and string to measure.
Doing bench work on a complex machine I prefer accuracy.

I don't suppose anyone here has heard of an R&R study? Requirements and specifications meetings? Design review? ESA inspection? When you are designing equipment that could easily chop off someone's arm there are certain standards that need to be met, not so much for flying a heli in the local park?

Re: Control Rod Setup Gauge

that has nothing to do with making a tool. the person in that video that hit that girl was just being an ass and the unfortunate part of that is that some one got hurt... making a tool for measuring something has nothing to do with showing off and hurting someone.... get a grip man...I suppose using a string to measure the circumference of a ball is going to make the person in that video hurt that girl... the man is trying to make a tool that will give him the same result as a more expensive Tool....

So you are saying: checking all aspects of your flying food processor has nothing to do with injuries.

I think you may be wrong there.

Exact equal length rods on the rotor head are very important to the stability of the heli.

I did give a presentation on risk management for my engineering group, learned quite a bit.

Re: Control Rod Setup Gauge

Sigh, accuracy equals smoothness,
but it's your flying food processor.

lmao....
i know accuracy Moo. but when one cannot afford a 30.+ tool like most can in this hobby , one tends to think of ways to make that tool cheaper or out of materials that one has lying around. . not everyone is rich.
