Re: ontario pattern flying info site
The RCU pattern forums is where all the action is at, no one really posts anywhere else.
As for Jim's comment, he doesn't really know what he is talking about....the reason you see so much IMAC is because they spend more time talking and less time doing.... |

Re: ontario pattern flying info site
Ok now boys, play nice and have a good time!
As many of you know I have a renewed interest in Patterns flying and have recently returned from a trip to Florida where I competed in a Pattern contest held at Ocala Fl. I have posted a report and many pictures here http://albums.phanfare.com/5187035/3596775 For many years now I have spent countless hours and untold $$$ building and flying IMAC airplanes and loved every minute of it. The fact that I am now concentrating on Pattern should in no way suggest that I have developed an dislike for IMAC, quite the opposite. Some facts I have to deal with. The Guelph/KW/Cambridge area does not lend itself well to 40% IMAC planes primarily from a noise perspective, that is the reality. My only real option is to travel 112km (one way) to the 400 club to fly these big airplanes and for me, at least for the time being, this is not a realistic option for an ongoing basis. I will fly IMAC again and still have my 40% Carden Extra 260. After having flown a new style pattern airplane for the first time since 2000 I was quite surprised at just how well it flew and the significant improvement in all around flying quality since then. For the last few months I have been flying a "borrowed" CA Models Genesis and now have a CA Models Osmose EVO and an Oxia Aries waiting to get equipment put in them. These are the models I will be campaigning with this summer, also next year for team trials in the hopes of a place on the Canadian F3A team in 2011.

Re: ontario pattern flying info site
Hello Ivan... I was just reading over one of my 1978 Model Aiplane News magazines, with an article about the 1977 TOC. Very nice picture of your Pink and White Circus Circus Special... Now THAT is a nice looking plane. Glad to see that you are still flying pattern planes.
I just picked up my first pattern plane, from a fellow named Ivan, originally from the Ukraine, who flies in the Aurora club, and apparently used to fly with the Canadian team. Apparently, the plane is a one of a kind custom built, and aside from a few repairs required, it in very good condition. Bought the airframe for $25.00. Can't wait to get it all sorted out, and in the air. I am hoping to use a 90 size Supertigre in it, as the original webra rear exhause engine is somewhere else. Hopefully the stock exhaust won't look too ridiculous on the plane, but until I can find a suitable tuned pipe for this engine, the stock setup will have to do. |
