Saito 130T
I have just acquired a Saito 130 T twin at a swap meet. I assume that this is a relatively early model as there seems to be no listing for it on the Saito website. The engine seems to be in good shape - the compression is good on both cylinders and the bearing seem smooth when turned over by hand with the plugs removed. I would appreciate any comments and discussions about this engine - especially from anyone that has run this engine. Any hints, suggestions or caveats would be welcome.

I bought one I believe around 1993..I mounted it in a Goldberg Ultimate.
The engine takes some running in time to be reliable at an idle..It wanted to drop a cylinder at anything below about 1/3 throttle..I put an onboard glow driver in and it helped tremendously. As time went on it run alot better. With the dual carbs of course you have to set one cylinder at a time and go back and forth between the two quite a few times to get it purrin' I don't remember which prop i used but the engine handled the Ultimate well. At the time i thought it was the coolest thing going Always thought i would like to own another one now having more experience i'd like to try and run it without onboard heat. Congrats on your purchase and enjoy |

If when you run your engine, you think you might need an On-Board glow driver, contact Joe Bajkor, who is a member of RCCanada and is the ower of "Arrow" company. He makes various types of electronic equipment, including single and multi cylender self contained on-board systems and at very reasonable prices.
I purchased an on board glow driver from him for my Saito 1.60 flat twin. The driver has twin AA NimH cells built in for all the power you need for start up and flight times. Just do a search for JBajkor if you'd care to contact him via PM.

Thanx for your reply guys!! Is the on board glow really necessary? I have a few other 4s engines - several 65s - the 130 is 2 65s bolted together isn't it? I have never had any problems running the 65s without on board glow.

As far as onboard glow, set it up on a test stand and run it for awhile, then you'll know..When i had mine the OS F plug was not available.
As far as a plane, you can put it in anything that takes a .90 size engine |
