I'll post RPM numbers with the videos, but it's the strongest motor I've tested to date!

I'll be ordering a 36x12 prop tonight
Sweet!!! The only music to my ears!!! 3W rules!!! PERIOD!!!!

It's going to take quite an engine company to de-throne 3W. In fact doubt it'll ever happen..

Knew you'd be elated Trevor.

I'm not sure if the mediocre sound on my camera will pick up the prop rip, but with the RPM's I was getting, I was ripping both props. The 33x12 was fairly loud, but the 34x12 was ear-shattering!

The exhaust note was beautiful, but once the motor unloads in the air, the prop ripping would be unbearable and it will only get easier once it's broken-in, leaned-out and on 100:1 Amsoil!! - hence why I need to go 36x12!!

It was recommended to me to run a 36x12 if I put this motor on the tuned pipes due to all the torque. Compared to the Mintor220, the Mintor is like a high-revving Ferrari engine (and sounds like it to!), which is why it's at home with a 30x13 or 32x12 at high RPMs. Just based on how the 3W spools up the the big props, you can see it has way more torque than the Mintor, but it doesn't seem to be quite as smooth at the high RPMs.... all of this points me towards the 36x12 prop!!

There goes another 200 coins

Mintor220 with Beila 33x12: 5550rpm (however, this is after at least 15 gallons)
Mintor220 with Menz 34x12: 5550rpm

Honestly, if this 3W220 on the KS1090s can pump out even 100rpms more than the mighty Mintor once it is broken in, I'll be a very, very happy guy!! 100rpms on such big props translates into HUGE thrust increases. I know my Mintor would pull this big Pitts around no problem, so more power would be just plain SICK!!

I was told that the 3W220 on pipes is best spinning a 36x12 prop and when on pipes it has similar power to a 3W275??? We'll see - just waiting for my wife to get back with the van!!!

Trev
OK!! Here are the videos!!

I did a number of runs, but only recorded the first two:

Video #1 - Beila 33x12 CF
* The throttle response speaks for itself!
* Sorry for the positioning of the Tach on the high-speed run - tough to hold the stand, control throttle and shoot the RPM!!!!
* It ran 5690rpms (first run, pig rich, on 32:1)!!! That's already 150rpm more than the Mintor
* It ran 720rpm on idle and didn't miss a beat! - I've never seen an idle like that!!
* Check out the smoothness - not a vibration!!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qvamOdhars

Video #2 - Menz 34x12
* It ran 5640rpms (never touched the needles - still pig rich, on 32:1)!!! That's 100+ rpm more than the Mintor
* Way more ripping (makes sense - 1 inch more pitch at same rpm as the Beila)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WO_cYMHDjY

I have no doubt that once I lean it out, break it in and go to 100:1 Amsoil, it will spin 300rpm more than the Mintor220 on the larger props!

Back to the build!!

WOW!!!

The throttle response is unbelieveable with those props. That's some serious power....And to think it'll only get stronger.

Now my thoughts are swaying again Trev. Brutal absolutely brutal!!

Hi Trevor
That is one impressive engine zero vibration at idle and pulls like crazy when throttled up.Should pull that Pitts around no problem. Thanks for posting the videos
Cheers Don
