Wow!

I caugt Ted's post as I was heading out the door from work yesterday... I left with a smile on my face.

I talked it over with my wife last night, she doesn't remember the conversation but remarked "of course they're toys, I see the smile on your face as you play with them".... I didn't bother to tell her to check my face the next time I throttle up a "real" airplane.

... and yes, Ted sure likes to play with his toy beaver, I guess it's good practice for the day he might experience a real one first hand.

Somebody that gets it.

Before starting this thread I knew the topic of Real planes vs. model planes was a hot topic for some modelers. I personally don't care what you call them. But when the oppurtunity presented itself to RAZZ another longtime modeler because his very own wife reffered to full scale planes as real planes, I thought it would be mildly funny. Obviously the humor escaped all that think they don't care as it seemed to strike a nerve with some. Like I said before the atmosphere of this site has gone from fun to fight in the past while with some of the members actually wanting the fight to grow.

There are a lot of members on RCC that know Jim and his wife quite well and I assume they would have seen the humor right off as I don't think you can "TELL" Velda (Jim's wife) anything. I get the impression she is very intellegent and comes to her own conclusions. Hence the humor of Jim sitting her down and setting her straight. Yeah right.

Maybe next time I just won't bother.

You got that right "buddy" (my wife's favourite attention word).

And don't let the "uptight crew" spoil your day, you'll notice that you never see or hear of the really annoying ones actually flying anything (well maybe the occasional ARF :P ) while the rest jump too quickly to the defense (well meaning but missed context, too easily done where nuances of body language and expression are missing). I think of it like noise on a long distance call, I ignore it and enjoy the pleasant conversation with the intended (intelligent) audience.

It was fun socialising with you and everyone else at Chatham, a great bunch of hard working people who's efforts attract an ever larger bunch of great, enjoyable people. Kudos and well met!

Too many geeky jokes about that all weekend, I think I'll brand Ted with the title he longs for (in many ways) ... "BUSH-Pilot".
