1/4 Scale Cub - Door & Interior
I'm in the middle of a build on an older Sig 1.4 scale cub. I've decided to add a door and finish the interior of the cockpit. Nothing on the plans, so I'm flying blind.

Re: 1/4 Scale Cub - Door & Interior
I plan to make it a single seat. Servos & maybe the receiver in a lower compartment behind pilot. I've vented the aft bulkhead (removable) and placed a cover (removable) over the servo compartment as a cargo area. The fwd bulkhead (removable) is well vented. Golden rod and wires will run on inside wall below door. Any suggestions appreciated.

Re: 1/4 Scale Cub - Door & Interior
Not sure what I'm going to use for hinges yet?? But as usual I charge ahead. After a lot of thinking and measuring I built a frame for the upper part of the door. I now have to fit it into the opening and make sure both parts of the door will swing open properly . . . Any ideas of using magnets to hold doors closed? Where to get them?

Re: 1/4 Scale Cub - Door & Interior
I built a 1/3 scale Balsa USA Super Cub years ago and there is all the details and directions for making the scale latch assembly and doing hinges ect on the plan. It was fairly easy to do but I sold the plans years ago.I am sure that there are many people on here with the cub or super cub plans that could help you out with the details on this. Looks great so far !

Re: 1/4 Scale Cub - Door & Interior
I'll check with Princess Auto this weekend. A friend who built a 1/3 was going to copy that section of his plans for me. Problem is, I'm way too impatient and I'll have the project finished by the time the post office gets them here .

Re: 1/4 Scale Cub - Door & Interior
My girlfriend Leeann recently did a 1/4 scale Sig Cub, with scale interior, door, and window. We used standard flat dubro hinges, buried into the wood, and simple small metal plates for retaining the door and window closed.

Re: 1/4 Scale Cub - Door & Interior
I countersunk and epoxied 2 Dubro flat hinges into the face of the bottom door. I also countersunk the magnet into the inner side of the door. Now I'm trying to fit the door into the opening while epoxing the hinges to the fuse - sure hope I get it right .
