power switch location

Hi:
This may be a stupid question but if you mount your receiver power switch on the out side of the fuselage does it matter which side it is on?

Thanks

Opposite or out of the way of the exhaust of the engine is always a good plan.

There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers.

Unless you're stuck putting the switch on one particular side, it is best to locate it on the side opposite the side the muffler is on. Helps keep the gunk off the switch.

Edit: Chad types faster than I do. :P

The only other suggestion I can make is to locate the switch in an area where you have the least possibility of accidentally turning it on or off.

For example: A number of fellows fly combat at our club using .25 sized combat SPADS that require hand launching. It has been known to happen that during the launch, the switch has accidentally been turned off and makes for an interesting, if not, short flight!

Door handle, interesting...

I've incorporated them into flight sticks in open cockpit designs, but most often hide them beind a hatch.

Other ideas; fire pull lever, cockpit emergency release, beacon light, filler cap, oil cap.
