New Titan SE

No need for upgrades, this machine includes it all. It's a system wide revamp so everything is designed with all other related parts in mind, something you unfortunately won't get with non-OEM upgrades. They are in the US now. Performance is the best I've seen of all past Raptors-upgraded to the hilt or not.

Re: New Titan SE

Not as many as I'd like, had it for 2 months and put maybe 2 gallons through the engine total. That's nothing but break-in time for a Raptor The weather has been crap and it's just warming up now. So far so good, lots of pop, flys fast with no pitching, and takes 15 degrees collective in a straight climb out without complaint or bogging. I really like the extended performance, way bigger loops from the extra speed and stability. The cyclic is fast enough for me at 9/9. It can be bogged but you have to force it at the right time. Running Radix 600s sport blades.

We shall try to get some useful performance evaluation videos up by the end of next weekend, Colin will be back from school and someone has to hold the camera-that'd be me. You guys don't want to watch me fly-too much like watching paint dry, you need to see the full potential.

Re: New Titan SE

Stephen: Any idea, specifically, what are the differences between this Titan SE and the normal 50V2? Curious to see what they changed to make it fly better. Can't really tell very much from the pictures.

P.S. - I have my 90SE about 80% complete. I'll have to bring it down to Bedford sometime soon when Colin gets home to make sure everything is 100% before the re-maiden.

Re: New Titan SE

Hi Mark,

Basic model modifications over the original Titan off the top of my head. I left out several minor changes to other parts. +/-15/15° and +/-9/9° are available with no binding even at full flybar tilt, if you know what you are doing.

New 3 hole mast (SS)
New head block (2-3mm mast attachment bolts)
New mixers
New dual stage dampers
New blade grips
New carbon blades (kit version dependant)
New red paddles
New rear boom support bracket (with redesigned boom supports)
Carbon fin
New flybar carrier
Hard anodized metal washout hub
Newly designed metal roll belcranks
New clutch bell pinion
New clutch bell
New start shaft bearing with block
New metal idler pulleys on tail drive (Qt 3)
New rear metal driven pulley
New freewheel inner race with bigger bolt
New plastic drive pulley with 4mm bolt
SS tail hub with new style angular contact bearings
New glass canopy and mounting system.
Selective use of button head screws for better mechanical clearance
Metal tail rotor pitch plate
Metal pitch fork
It even came with a blade folder , skid rubbers, and fuel filters. Pretty sure these are included in the basic kit

Past airframe bitches by modelers:

Not enough pop= 30 degrees travel and with a control speed up design
Slow cyclic=new mixers and paddles
Pitching in ff= mixers/delta and flybar carrier
Pinion bearing eating pinion= pinion retention nut with extra bearing
Drive bolts shearing=upgraded freewheel and mast
Slipping and tail boom wearing at boom support fitting= new fitting
Tail hub failures= SS hub with angular contact bearings
Failed idler pulleys=metal units
Rear pulley wear=new metal pulley
Head too soft and weak attachment=new head block and damping system
Woof=delta reversal
Canopy clip not secure enough=new canopy and mounting system
Pealing decals-The canopy is painted

PS-It also has metal posts to tie the mast bearing blocks together as with all past Titan 50s and is push/pull on all swashplate controls. Just so you know they didn't take anything away from the machine. When you get down here you can pound on it to you hearts content. -with a plastic canopy!

Stephen

Re: New Titan SE

Mark, It's significantly different, but I'm sure it'll look the same splattered over the flight line once Roberts gets his hands on it lol.

Since dad built it, I'll let him comment on all of the differences. Seriously though - there are quite a few, I just cant remember all of them off the top of my head.
