Re: IMAC in The Capital 2012
I don't represent the club or the event but will be there to photograph it & based on last year I'm rather certain there will be other practicing too.

Re: IMAC in The Capital 2012
It's the scoring program. The contest directors has it on a laptop and scores get entered in it as the competition progresses, and it calculates the final standings. Usually the contest directors enters pre-registered competitors in the program in advance to minimize work on the Saturday morning of the contest.

Re: IMAC in The Capital 2012
Ahh gotcha.. I thought it might have been the code name for tracking the overall scores across all competitions in the area.
That makes sense though.. But he said 26 pilots... I only see 20 pre-registered..

We completed 3 rounds of knowns on Saturday with 23 registered pilots. It was sunny and not too hot with one short-lived micro tornado (dust devil) that damaged no planes. Only one mishap - a forgotten wing bolt led to a spectacular flat spin into a pancake on a ~40%ish Yak. It will fly again one day. . Last edited by Mike Anderson; 06-23-2012 at 11:00 PM. |

Lol, judging by the contest results I should never have sold that plane to Joe! He's going to be kicking my butt in Intermediate next contest out! He'd probably still be flying helis and leaving us poor IMAC guys alone if it wasn't for that!

Re: IMAC in The Capital 2012
I wasn't going to post these here but since it's already being mentioned & wasn't totalled here's the result of what happened. I now realize that I may have been the only one who knew what happened at first because I had a lot of magnification in my favour thanks to the long lens on my camera. This was quite a bit to the west of the field when he knew it wasn't reacting to the sticks quite right & as he tried to get a grasp of the why it suddenly went south so to speak. I could see the rotated wing but I'm not sure if others could due to the distance.
.11 seconds later it looked like this And it kept spinning as if fell but the loose wing seemed to slow that fall. And once it was recovered & brought back it looked like this (wings barely damaged).

Re: IMAC in The Capital 2012
Wow. I can't believe it only had that amount of damage! Too bad, though. That plane has been on the circuit for quite awhile. Hopefully it'll get repaired and be back in the air!
