Doing a build on the Ziroli Skyraider. First I'll have to make all the templates, cut master templates, then start cutting the parts. I'll work on documenting the process, if you've never built from plans before, I highly encourage it, it's not as difficult as you might think! You certainly save a ton of $$, which can then be used for all the accessories!

We got a good start on the templates tonight, stab and wings done, and some progress on the fuselage templates!

First parts cut! Starting on the stab, once those are all done, wings, and finally fuse. Cutting 2 kits, just in case. Always good to have spares.

Not a lot to see yet, still making the templates, but most of the stab parts are rough cut, and awaiting the scroll saw, then sanding.

Stab parts are all ready for final sanding, a few wing ribs are done, and blanks cut for the 1/8th ply fuse bulkheads.

I may just have to contribute to finish this thread later with some finishing details perhaps. Rivets a must! Full weapons load out! AIRBREAKS!

I sure hope so, once the airframe's completed, it would be great to see the finishing work being done, not to mention a flight video. I've got all the wing ribs laid out on the balsa, should have most of them done tonight, and will be starting on the fuse bulkheads as well. We're in a crazy night flying routine at the Wing, I'm days today, then tomorrow I'm flying till 3 AM Weds, so I'll be sure that I'm actually awake and coherent prior to any parts cutting!

I'll have to get a pile of documentation, if you've got the Squadron Signal book for the Spad, that would help as well. Plan for the airbrakes will be to make make moulds for the wells, and the brakes themselves, and then glass parts. Most likely some carbon fibre reinforcement for the cylinder mounting areas.
