Gerard McHale Memorial Jet Rally Sept 17-20/09

As most of you are aware, the Gerard McHale Memorial Jet Rally will be held at the Princeton (BC) Regional Airport on September 17-20, 2009 (Thursday - Sunday). The actual event, open to spectators, is slated for Saturday and Sunday, but we also have the airport and NOTAM for Thursday and Friday (prior) as well. These days will be used for test flying and/or warming up your thumbs. Note that Bart will be there and we’ll have a Notam for Wednesday the 16th should anyone wish to arrive early.

The event is open to all ducted fan and turbine-powered jets. Please no foamie or park flyer jets during event hours. MAAC and AMA rules will be enforced while we are at the site. AMA members will require proof of waiver. Landing fees are.... $10 for Club Members and $20 for non-club members.

We would like to get an idea of how many pilots and jets will be there, so please respond to this thread if (and what days) you plan to attend. Check this thread often should more info become available as we get closer to the event!

NOTE: Just a heads up.... BC is experiencing one of the worst forest fire seasons in recent history. As it looks now, we should still be able to proceed with the rally. However, plans may have to change depending on the situation and airport activity at the time.

For those not familiar with it, Princeton, BC is a 3-hour drive east Vancouver and is located at the junction of Highway 3 and Highway 5A. We have the use of a 4000 x75 foot full-scale asphalt runway with unrestricted airspace. There is on-site Dry Camping for pilots and crew only. A variety of Motels and Restaurants are within 3 km of the flying site.

Bob,

I know you don't have a lot of car space but I would bring your Elan that you have for sale. Good chance there will be some interest.

Hi Paul - I plan to bring the Elan to Princeton. I brought both the Elan and the R54 last May as I borrowed my neighbor's van and could fit both in there. I'm going to try and borrow it again and bring both planes again.
