** Correction: 1.2 GHz **

Hello,

I've read all over this forum and couldn't find a direct answer.

A friend that got out of the hobby has given me an old 2.1 GHz tx and rx for FPV that he bought from China.

I'd like to know if its legal to use in Canada?

Thanks

Not a lot of people using 2.1 Do you know exactly what frequency its at? What is the power of the unit?

Check here to see the frequency allocations
http://www.onlineconversion.com/down...allocation.pdf

2.1g is on page 35.

The nearest frequency I can find that is allocated to amateur use is 2300-2450. Not sure where our spread Spectrum radios fit in here.

Some guys complain that 2.4 FPV frequencies get a lot of interference from home WIFI's others say they get none.
Still others say 2.4 FPV interferes with some spread-spectrum RC units. It might be easier to just go with an more popular FPV frequency like 5.8G or 1280.

Might want to pick up a low pass filter to have better luck with 2.4 RC control.

I have had my control lost trying to fly on 1280 w 300mW, and Frsky 2.4 radio. So now I strictly use UHF with 1.2G video

Re: is 2.1 Ghz Legal in Canada with out a licence?

oh yeah I should also note - you had better be 100% sure this 1.2G vTx does not emit under 1240 MHz! That freq range is reserved for fullsize aviation, not amateurs. There are a lot of such transmitters coming out of Asia with the inappropriate band of frequencies on them.

You can only use 1280 and 1258 in this band in Canada. You cannot even use 1240 as it bleeds below 1240 which is illegal.

If you are broadcasting over something like 0.25 mW (milliwatt, not watt) you are required by law to have a HAM radio operators certificate - that goes for any FPV transmitter I know of.
