1/4 scale Taylorcraft restoration

I picked this old model up at the London swap a few years back for 40.00, it was a mess.
I started back in late winter restoring but shelved it again when spring sprung.
Went back at it a week ago and it's all finished but the windshield and ID #'s so I'll post a few photos in a day or so.
Model turned out well and powered it with a Saito 180 I had laying around. Model is coated in Balsarite, Supercoverite, clear doped then sprayed with oil based colour, satin finish. Also new cowl and added the pants.
Quite a bit a framework was removed and replaced as well as sheeting. This model was scratch built originally and built very well, glad to have it.

photos to come.

Bill

Beautiful Job! Are you going to put the "Duane Cole" on the side of the fuse upside down?

Re: 1/4 scale Taylorcraft restoration

Sorry no I'm not, just keeping it simple. I will be putting ID# on the fuse sides and wings but that's about it.
I just like taking old retired models and rebuilding them so they fly again. Usually quite a challenge because you always have to go backwards for a while before you can progress forward
It's fun and there's nothing like taking a sows ear and turning it into a silk purse.
Much credit to the original builder who gave me a pretty sound and straight airframe to work with.
Right now the windshield is giving me fits

Bill

Great looking Taylorcraft. It's nice to see someone is willing to do something different from all those ugly cubs!
