Replacement Bearings in Canada

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Does anyone know of a location in Canada that sells front and rear bearing for a MVVS GRRT 40? I can order them out of the US but the dollar, freight and the wait time is not so attractive. I figured that some of the engine collectors might have some hints.

TIA
Jeff

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

Remove the bearings and take them to your local industrial supplier. I do that here in Belleville and they measure them and order them by phone and they come in the next day. I have done a couple dozen engines and the longest I had to wait was three days.

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

Some model engine manufacturers leave the numbers on the sides of the bearing and some have them removed. You may have to use a magnifying glass to search it. If not , Cliff has the right idea.

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

I too use the local bearing house. As mentioned, if the numbers are not clear you can measure or go to the BOCA site and using the engine info can find the bearing numbers there.

For yours they list the following:

MR607-ZZ MR6902-ZZ

If you do go local, I recommend specifying good quality with minimum C3 rating. For a little extra coin you are much more likely to not need replacing anywhere as often if treated carefully.

NOTE: The -ZZ denotes Metal Shielded both sides. In most cases I remove both from the larger rear unit, (in your case the 6902) and the inner, (rear) shield from the front bearing to provide proper lube. They are greased at manufacture and you can leave that for assembly. It will wash out when running with no harm and this ensures you have proper lube for initial start until the fuel-borne lube makes it there.

Another option is to use a sealed front bearing, (usually -2RS) and remove the inner seal. I find a sealed front bearing the only solution to the air leak problem on some engines and it often prevents oil slinging from behind the drive washer. IMO, it also keeps the bearing cleaner.

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

I use BOCA bearing all the time now.

I needed a bearing once the local supplier wanted $75.00 for it and got it
for about $15.00 from BOCA.

They have good service plus you can lookup your engine on their website and find what you need and what quality you want.

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

I second Rcbearings.com and Boca. So simple to find the right ones.

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

On some engines you have to order a non-shielded bearing for the rear they are narrower and the shielded bearing can cause the crank pin to drag on the back plate. I usually order a non-shielded bearing for the rear and a sealed bearing for the front and remove the rear seal. Notice I said a seal not a shield.

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

Thanks for the feed back. I truly hate ordering from the US. It is a crap shoot if makes across the boarder in 2 weeks or 12 weeks.

Re: Replacement Bearings in Canada

I picked up a set of bearings fornmy MVVS 46 from my local bearing supplier. They were a middle of the road bearing, and cost me about $50, but I had them the next day. They have seen a lot of use, and still feel perfect after two years.
