Spadfest was a pure riot! The weather was rain and mud, and would have cancelled any other event...but the world just doesn't know Spadders...we flew anyways!!!..A LOT!!! In fact there was more fun and flying in these conditions than I've seen at most "conventional" events with perfect weather! It really rocked!!! It was more like Spadstock ...even had a hose available for an imprompto Spadwash...man the planes got muddy!
Here's the pictures Sassy took

Warning warning warning...coroplast is very addictive We revived Spad #1 from Kraut's rafters for Spadfest and to let everyone who wanted to fly it. It's over 5 years old. It's the white winged plane inthis picture:
http://jwtfamily.org/rc_albums/combat/aqr.sized.jpg
The plane was modled after a Swizzle stick stirdy-birdy high dihedral rudder controled (no ailerons) type wing. Even over built and weighing in at approx 5 pounds...the day after Spad #1 flew far beyond our expectations (lighter wingloading than a Dura-plane) I was hooked. The very next day I gave over 20 years worth of accumulated balsa and monocote away to a fellow modeler and never looked back. Over the last 5 years the methods have improved, the wings have grown, the wing loading and flight charicteristics of the Debby and Spadet have gotten comparible to the industy standard trainers, and even the looks of some designs aren't too bad . The materials lend themselves to INCREDABLE experimentation and personalization...and when transfering hardware (mounts, wheels, pushrods etc...) from plane to plane...your next plane is only $10 or less and a few hours away.
