Older Airtronics Servos using Futaba Radio

I getting an old pattern aircraft ready to fly. While
doing this, I decided to test my new Futaba 9C radio in it.
However, I can not get the two Old Airtronics aileron servos and cables out of the wing without major surgery.

What I am proposing is to cut the two leads off in the center if the
wing and reconnect using Futaba Connectors. The servos are
Airtronics 94631 Servos [old style]. I realize that I will have to reverse the positive and negative leads to adapt to the Futaba 9C PCM receiver.

I this okay and will it work? Has anybody done this?

Stephen,
I have done a few this way but I also have pushed the 2 connecters out carefully and inserted them back correctly. Then shave off the side so it will fit. Just be careful when putting them in the receiver so they are not backwards. I used quite a few small ball brg. servo's and did not want to throw them out.

Found even an easier way.
There are adaptor cables to convert from
old style Airtronics servos to New Z which
will fit Futaba. Cost only $3.49 from Great Hobbies.

Just one more question?
I cut and soldered the old Airtronics servos extension using
new Futaba connectors, being careful to switch the
positive and negative leads. Used heat shrink on all the
leads and then an overall heat shrink.
I then tested and all seems to be working fine. A Okay.
However, today when I was at my local flying field, I mentioned
what I had done. One of our older and trusted members
said that there was more to it then just reversing the servo
leads when using Old style Airtronics on a new Futaba system.
Although he was unsure of it was I needed to do.
Is there something else I need to do?
I know that the Airtronics system uses positive shift and
Futaba uses negative shift, but does this not refer to the
Tx and Rx communication, not the servo to Rx??????

You got it right. The positive and negative refers to Tx and RX only. The servos are only responsing to the signals they get from the RX.

Reversing the leads is all you need for your servos to work with Futaba.

Just check your controls for proper direction before flying. I think some servos responded opposite to other brands and you don't want to get off with ailerons reversed.
It's probably servo brand switching related, but check anyway, as you would before every flight anyway, right?
