SU-47 Berkut Twin EDF 360 Degree RC JET Flight REVIEW in HD! (10 min 40 sec)

RC SU-47 Berkut Maiden flight on Friday the 13th (4 min 56 sec)

And figured out that this plane needs a fair amount of up trim for neutral in both canards and elevators. I tried having the elevators do most of the up trim but I think the next flights will have the canards trimming equally with the elevators.
Another member MFGEDF (RCG) posted a video earlier in the RCG thread that showed decent flying and stated his CG was 3cm ahead of stock. Unfortunately his video was not clear enough to see what his neutral positions were.
Regardless, watching those videos tells me this plane has potential, and whatever work needed to make things right will be worth it. A fun challenge for sure.

Re: LX SU47 twin 70mm build

Hi Eric, just read the whole post, I may have missed it, but, was wondering, how many watts are your 70's giving you. Since I'm thinking of gutting mine to install a single 90 on a 6 cell setup, was wondering if I should use the same as I did on my Arrow. The six cell setup using a Mega and Hoaye fan gives around 1800 watts I think, on 7 cells, the Mega and Hoaye produce 2200 watts. They are two different motors, the 22/35/1.5ER is for a 6 cell and the 22/35/1.5ES is for a 8 cell, however, 7 cells is the hottest I could go without exceeding the amp draw using the Hoaye fan.

Re: LX SU47 twin 70mm build

The two fans draw 2200watts/100amps peak settling to 2000/94.
A single 90 should be plenty but the ducting might be tricky and it will weaken the fuselage by removing the centre wall.
I do prefer the simplicity of one fan vs. two.

Re: LX SU47 twin 70mm build

You are right about the weakening but, I was figuring on laying up 6oz fiberglass on the inside, top and bottom. The fan will be totally surrounded by a foam bulkhead as well. As for intake ducting, there will be none, there will be an intake bell on the front of the fan. If I move the fan further forward by an inch or more, then I can move the battery pack further aft. Hope to keep the battery and the ESC in the intake airflow.

But, we shall see, I have lots of stuff to finish first.
