I got my son a brushless system from HK. It was the Novatech system complete with 3600kv brushless motor and 60amp ESC. Just install it and use a 2C 5000mah lipo and away you go. Well he has had the system in his Hpi Blitz truggy 1 10th scale for less than a year. Used it for about 4 and a half months. He is 12 and has had real good instructions on how to use his car and not to run it through water etc... On Monday while Mom and Dad were still at work, he decided to take his car for a spin. He was in the house when he plugged in the battery, turned on his radio then the car. Smoke started coming from the ESC and then some flames. He quickly unplugged the battery and his older sister and him took the car outside. House had smoke in it and that very hard to get rid of electrical burning smell. This could have been a real disaster, luckily he did the right thing. I've looked at the ESC, what was left of it and cannot determine what happened. I'm open to ideas as to what happened. Here are some pics. Thanks.

Re: HobbyKing Brushless

The battery is fine. I have used this battery in my truggy as well and it worked great.I use deans connectors and he has had no issues connecting the battery up before. Something to do with the ESC.
