Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I have been using the Fromeco Wolverine/Badger switches and Jeti Fob....ulous switches, LOL!!

I have also used the Miracle switches quite a bit and 0 issues.... used a pair for 2 years on the 58% EMHW Ford Pitts and have one currently on my 35% Pilot 330/ZDZ112.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Thanks Trevor. A young fella up the road just bought his first gas plane. A realistic approach to his madness and is going with a Decathlon/DLE35 combo from AMR. Sourced his servos (Savox), batteries and switches from Thunderbolt. He is going to be using a dual Miracle switch w fuel dot.

I have been using MPI switches since I started with gas. No troubles with those either. Guess its good to be like a combine: listen to it all, sort the usable info, and chuck the rest out the back.

Lots of tripe from a few in the West without any qualifying conversation.

Honestly going with the KISS method is the best!

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Seeing I'm in the buffer zone between the West and the East, I am being swayed to the East side mafia. Ask a question, get an answer.

But man, it a long drive to go flyin' with you guys!!!!

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I checked my switches with a meter. All of them work good and nothing is reversed. I did find that both + and - are switched which would be good in the sense there is no common ground when charging. On many switches only the + is switched so you have to unplug your batteries when charging or it throws off the charger.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

A simple mod that would make the Miracle switch one with double redundancy would be to remove move all of the black leads and then solder them together with the lead from the charge port. Then solder a bridge from each of the red wires across to the terminals that the black wires were on. This way the + power is double switched, if one side of the switch fails it will continue to operate on the other side.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Here are my quick drawings to illustrate what I mean. Also by doing this it would cut the resistance in half so it could handle twice the current as before.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

If anyone does this mod be sure to remove the black wire from the bottom post. If you don't it will create a dead short when the switch is in the off position.
