Giant tiger engine

Thanks for the 2 replies about stripping an engine.
The engine in question is a 90 size Giant Tiger, I do not know the age.
I am stripping it because the compression is so low there is very little power left.
Another posting told me where I can get a new piston ring.
My problem is that I cannot see how to remove the piston rod from the crank. See my previous posting.

removing the rod

Hi Scratchman, I think that the rod pin has to be top dead center, in order to remove the piston rod, there may be a sleeve in the motor that needs to come out first. there is a web site that has helped me out alot, it has very detailed info on how to remove and and replace piston rings, it is url;www.airfieldmodels.com'', you just have to go to the area of engine maintanence and repairs. anyways, I hope this helps, good luck,,,Joey,,,

Joey is correct. Pull the sleeve out, put the engine at Top dead centre, and then hook the conrod with something. Pull it towards the back of the engine, and it should just pop off.

Good Luck

Mike
