yup and use a little brush. You don't have to though. If you have resin core solder you should be fine.. I've done tons of smd and through hole never needed flux, i only use it on wire..

I also have some MG chemicals flux removal spray too, cleans the boards up really nice!

Thanks for that. I've found the flux core solder works well too. I just don't seem to have the same elegance as some of those videos where they tin all the pads by skating across them. They make it look easy

when you have a clean bare soldering board solder sticks to it so easy and nicely. When you man handle a pcb board many times it gets covered in human oil. Solder doesn't like that. I usually try to touch a fresh pcb with the corners.

And no... I do not use this on electronics.
I'm confused, in one you say you dip the wire, and the other you say you don't use this on electronics

think he is stating he doesn't use those on electronics, but maybe on wire.. or the stuff he is showing isn't for electronics.

Cuz I was gonna say, I can't think of anything that has wire that isn't electronics

Re: Soldering station debate

DashPuppy:

Where did you buy the Rosin flux in the blue bottle?

If Nanaimo has it, then, it must be available in Maple Ridge. LOL

Monday:

Thanks Dashpuppy for the information; I'll need to do some research to find a closer source.

Re: Soldering station debate

I keep 'shorting out' my communications

'wire' ... let me rephrase ... 'electrical' ... LiPo leads, ESC leads, especially those large gauge multi-filament silicone sheathed wires. Seems like some have 100+ strands! Lots of air space. Flux helps solder flow through those multiple filaments more easily.

In the 'electronics' field, I find wires are most often single strand. That's when you have wiring. Circuit boards and increasingly lead less components ... increasingly challenging to handle!

And yes, I'd consider that flux too 'aggressive' for the finesse of today's electronic circuitry. Like swatting a fly with a sledgehammer.
