This thing is more engine (weight excepted) than any Piper full scale C3 Cub ever came with. Just what kind of a "Model" does this fit? I know that there is a 77lbs limit on total weight for models thanks to the MOT regs for UAV's but can you build an airframe that'll take this kind of power day in day out and still come in under that 77 lbs? or is it a dumb question....

Well, that's very interesting.

"Model" has nothing to with size, unless you qualify it - say 1/4 size, 1/72 size, 2x size and so forth.

It need not be scale either.

A model can be any size. And you could build a scale or somewhat scale model of a Piper J-3 at 3x size of the original which is being duplicated, copied, imitated or modeled.

Whether it's practical or not is an entirely different matter, if that is what you mean.

I believe that motor is meant for the largest of models in Europe. Canadian and US rules wiht respect to aircraft weights are much more stringent than in Europe...that's why you see the massive 60% and 70% models in Europe and not on domestic shores. I'm also guessing that 3W, a German company, saw the need for this market.

It would be interesting to see from the factory what part of the market they are really after. Offering it to the model community may be just an extra group. I believe they maybe more into the ultralight type or military uav market. If you notice they also will go dual plugs and probably other items that would be required in the real world. There are quite a few engines in those markets that where never designed to fly. Water cooled snowmobile engines for one as an example.
