Re: Aerotetris....

That is one of the nuttiest things I've seen in a while! i'm always looking for a good-sized A-10 kit... but 697 pieces?!

My mind is reeling, wondering if this assembly approach could possibly make for a lighter and/or stronger build than more conventional ones. It seems doubtful, but...

Anybody have firsthand experience with one of these?

Re: Aerotetris....

He's got a bit of a following over on RC Groups I think.

Personally, I don't mind building a kit, but good lord - did you see the photo of a kit box? It is literally a block of foam - all the cut parts packed together in a block. Makes me wanna go hide in a corner!

Re: Aerotetris....

That's I was thinking a person could these into plugs and molds? could save a ton of time designing them from scratch. Maybe use select sections of the fuse to trace for formers. Just thinking out loud here

Re: Aerotetris....

Hey Myles
I think there could be a great EDF following for such a product.
I contacted them and waiting to hear.
With the introduction of smaller and lighter turbines, there might be a small niche market there too however modelers have to build which no one does anymore.
So will see,

Re: Aerotetris....

They've been around for years! And Yes they are intended for EDF.

Myles I think you have a good idea for using it as a plug, though tons of work regardless.

Re: Aerotetris....

I have built one of Igor's models. A 1.5 meter SU27UB.......................and subsequently crashed it due to bad CG location. Oh well. I'll rebuild it at some point. They go together quite easliy gluing a section together and then vertically stacking/bonding them using carbon fibre rods as guides to keep it aligned. Took about a week to build doing about three hours or so a night after work. Gonna do a PAK FA from him at some point.
