Break In?

I just rec'd my HB Lightning Stadium Sport last week and have run two tanks at idle as suggested in the manual. I have been reading other threads and noticed others doing 3 or 4 tanks at idle. What is the right number?

I have had some issues with the motor stalling whenever I put on the receiver, with the trim maxed...I most likely have to change my servo setting...thanks to those who advised that.

What else should I be looking at? I don't have a temp guage so have been doing the spit test and it appears to be running cool. It makes an aweful mess of oil spitting out the pipe...I assume that is normal when running at factory settings? Afetr the idle tanks, the manual says to do the speed up to half throttle and then let coast for to tanks? Should I do more?

Thanks for all of your input...I can't wait to dial her in and hear her scream!!!

I would do what the manufacturer suggests. If there are no suggestions then run between 2-4 at idle and then a couple doing low-mid speed short passes being easy on the throttle/brake. You will definitely be running rich and will need to lean it out a little to start the driving. Lean it out a little more after a few runs. I like to have around 6 tanks on a break in. A temp gun is really your best bet to get a proper tune.

re breaking in new motors

you should use a heat gun to pre heat the engine up to temp before starting it up. it will help make starting it alot easier during the break in.

A Temp Gun is your best freind when running your Truck and while breaking it in, it will give you the temp so you can adjust your seeting`s as you break it in, you don`t want the temp to get to high and it will also help as you adjust your setting`s dureing different track`s. i got mine for just over $20, it`s worth it.
