HI Guys, as CT kero is over $20 plus tax(9.46litres) and my friends in the US are paying $3.50 US (pumped kero),a gal. I might have to look else where for kero or jet a. May be a 45 gal. drum. Any
idea"s out their, where to get Kero or Jet A cheap.

Kero Prices should be coming down soon?? I've watched Diesel prices drop about 18 cents a litre in the last two months. Kero being a similar fraction, it should fall as well. There may still be kero at the "winter" price in the system though.

I thought of this last year but didn't have the time to flesh it out. How many people would be willing to bulk buy? I have a contact that can get us a discount on Kero, but we'd have to come up with a minimum order. I'll talk to him and see what pricing might be, but in the mean time, those interested can PM me with a the quantity they'd purchase.

Using your numbers Pete, we are paying C$7.75/gallon or US$5.96/gallon.

or in CDN. we pay $10.76cdn/gal. imperial.

PS. ED, the $20 is plus tax=$22.60/2.1 imp.=$10.7
PS. I never thought about, how much $, 1 flight on my Bobcat costs, now I know, $7.17cdn.

$19.99 9.46 liters of kerosene (2.5 US Gallon.)
$02.60 Add GST/PST
-------
$22.59 Divide by 2.5
$09.07 CDN per US Gallon. X 0.787854 Exchange rate
$07.15 USD per US Gallon.

$09.07 X 0.832674 Convert US Gallon to UK Gallon.
$07.55 CDN per UK Gallon.

Of course, the USD prices are as of today, and have been converted using the conversion site xe.com.

I didn't plan on making a math contest out of this!!!!!!

My math didn't include taxes and I used a C$1.3 = US$1 exchange rate.

XE.com exchange rates tend to be low by about 4% because they are bank rate and not the "public" rate.

I will revise my math and re-post.

Speaking of Kero...I'm curious, what is the shelf life on Kero? How long would you keep it before you would discard it?

Hi Sam

Shelf life depends on how you store it. If it's in an air tight container and the container is mostly full, it will keep from year to year. If you intend on keeping it over the winter, your best to filter it in the spring to get rid of any crud and toss the filter when your done. I've got one jug of kero left over from '07 and it's still clear and clean. Won't be around much longer though.

Ok, here's my NEW math:

C$19.99 x 1.13(taxes) = C$22.59

9.46L = 2.499 US Gal ~ 2.5 US Gal

C$22.59/2.5 = C$9.036 ~ C$9.04 per US Gal

TD Exchange Rate C$1.2954=US$1 on their website

C$9.04/1.2954 = US$6.97 per US Gal

In the end, the answer is we are still getting s#$@#^d over on kero prices!
