I've seen so many nice engines here, it keeps poking me in the back of the brain. Just a sharp, little pinprick that keeps saying "You should display your engines....."

Converting to electric, I have many engines I love too much to sell. They sure would look nice displayed in my bookcase in my library.

I just don't want to get them dusty over the years. Besides closing in an entire shelf with plexiglass, are there any plastic display boxes that are readily available?

I just love looking at these engines. That being said, I don't have a collection, but have a nice display case from Ikea. It has all my NASCAR 1/64 cars in it. The cabinet does have the option for a light on top, all shelves are glass, with a glass door, and mirrored back. Its perfect for these engines.

Re: I hate you guys

Thanks Darren.
My library already has a wall-wall bookcase, so another display case is not what I need.

My options are either to add more shelves and put a clear plexiglass in front of the section that has the engines, or buy some transparent display boxes.
Is there a "Show us your display methods/cases" thread? maybe we need one and I can pin it to the top of this section.

Heck, I might even change the title of this thread and call it the "Show us your display methods/cases" thread since the title was just a joke, if you didn't already get it. ('cus you all know I LOVE you guys!!! )

Re: I hate you guys

Max, my engines have never ever been displayed. I have a plan to do so this winter if all goes well.
My case is going to be a triple door cooler, the ones you see in the variety stores full of pop and juice etc.
I am hoping for 7' high 8' long and 3' deep. These generally have a good shelving system and lights but I'm sure I will be doing some customizing to the cooler but I'm going to enjoy doing that.
Also I need to purchase the raw materials for stands which will basically be large washers and stand-offs.
It will be awsum if it all works out then once displayed photos and video can be provided for those too far from me to visit.

Bill

Re: I hate you guys

What about the plexi glass cases used for die-cast models or plastic models?

That is what I was thinking. But where to find them? At a reasonable cost.
