Re: RC Showcase / Sad News

Wow, that's too bad, they had great service.

That's the second engine supplier to go, recently Southgate aero (taurus) stopped building engines and is open for repairs only.

Times are tough in the States, I've noticed that there's a significant # of dealers "missing" on the Toledo show list. My personal favorite CARDEN doesn't seem to be on the list and they are usually there in full force every year!

Too bad-
Although I'm certain Troy Built will maintain their usual good level of service
The big get bigger

Companies come and go all the time. No big deal.

I will safely predict that economic conditions what they are or not, you'll see a lot of others decide to pull the plug too over the next couple of years. There are way more engine manufacturer/suppliers for gassers presently than the market can support.

We had exactly the same thing when the large scale gas activities started. Quadra was the first engine. Then came a ton of others - almost everyone and his brother had an engine company. Then came the big shake out, as happens in any area of business activity. Everything boils down to a few standing in the end. Same thing now with he present generation of lightweight, high output gas engines. The shake out will come.

Do you guys remember when the PC started? First, there was just IBM. Then came a few clones. Then came a ton of clones. Now there are just a very few. And where's IBM??

Do you guys remember everyone jumping onto the internet when it became fashionable about mid to late 1990s? Virtually everyone with as much as a 286 computer set up as an ISP. What have you got now? A massive shake out with only a few remaining.

So let the "spirit" of RC Showcase live on at TBM and be happy for what you had and what you've still got.

Re: RC Showcase / Sad News

Very unfortunate, both for the company and the employees.

My thoughts are with them at this sad time. I always make it a point to stop at the RC Showcase booth in Toledo and talk with the guys. My ZDZ was purchased from them, great engine.
Good luck gents... Peter
