my YEP 180 has a default of slow-start (for heli) so I am waiting for my programming card to arrive to re-configure. (hate the stick method).

Re: XRP 14 blade 90mm fan with 1450kv motor

Ran the XRP 14 blade 90mm fan today in the FF Hunter. The YEP 100 ESC defauls to slow spool heli, so all the settings were re-done with their programming card. Even with the fast plane setting, the spool up is still somewhat delayed compared to most ESC's.
The power settled around 2000watts/94amps pulling 2.3kg on the scale (in the plane). My thrust measurement isn't 100% friction free as the plane is on it's wheels on a less than perfectly flat surface. The fan ran smooth with a noticable very high pitch ring to it.
Will have to wait till the snow clears to hear what it sounds like in the air. Our runway is about half covered with ice and snow.

Re: XRP 14 blade 90mm fan with 1450kv motor

The XRP fan performed well today on it's first flights. Sound every bit as good as the Changesun 90mm 12 blade. Maybe slightly better as there is a high pitched whistle that goes along with the whoosh (sounds like a mini turbine to me).
The only drawback is it does draw more amps than the CS 12 blade fan (and I don't think there is any corresponding increase in thrust). I'm guessing just under 10% more.

It will stay in the Hunter but I don't foresee buying another due to the lack of efficiency.
I think 14 blades is perhaps too many.

I hope yours is the stronger version.
If so, and is properly balanced you will love it!

Very happy with the YEP 120HV ESC's but be sure to get the programming card as they have many many features to set.
Cheers

Thanks for the info but I think I'll pass on this one. The standard CS90 12blade is already too much of an amp hog for my liking.
