I had an oops today

Well Guys I have some bad news.
Paul, Cory and my self were flying today..

Cory was the first up in the air and I was watching him flying his Ultra Sport 40. Dame he's getting good...
Then I went up after Cory.I was flying the Hots, Flew around did some tricks and the timer went off at 12m 30sec started to bring it in and Landed. On the ground we were discussing the amount of wind and all the pockets.
Paul was next, Paul was flying his H9 P-51
I can not tell you how many times I lost sight of that thing (must be Old Age)
Paul was doing some low fly by's and he also did one touch and go...
after his timer went off he was on the ground...

Next !!! was called out.

So Cory got his gear ready and got the motor started and was Taxiing out, next you know you hear the engine scream... he started to take off and that wind turned and cought the wing and it was on the ground (just one cartwheel) very little damage...five min and some glue and he would be up in the air again....

Well this is how it happened...
I was flying around and did a few side slips and just floating in the air.... when I realized that I didn't start the timer...so I asked Cory if he had a rough Idea how long I was up, he said " oh about 10 minutes" so I thought I would bring it in...
Started my approach for landing, was about to make my final turn and wouldn't you know It that Dame tree just Jumped up and hit the wing ...LOL parts flying you know!!! you see the fuse go one way and the wing goes another way.....
but I did have to Laugh when I was walking over to pick it up or better yet Find it in the woods... But any how
Cory says to me as were walking " You just had to out do my crash, EH"
all I could do was Laugh....
But you know I didn't need the Garbage Bag today
So thats my OOOOPS for the day....

How many PPl have had that happen to them?

Re: I had an oops today

So? Are ya gonna rebuild it?

If not, think of all the neat looking models that can fill the empty spot in your hobby room where the Hots used to sit

Rob:

If surgery can't save your Hots, Aceplant00 (here on RCC) did have a Midwest Super hots 60 up for sale.

Re: I had an oops today

Had one similar to that a couple of years ago .I was flying a Clancy Speedy Bee . Modified. Originally a 15 or a 20 size, well I modified one from scratch and made it a 40 size. Modified it a little in what came off with what piece also. well this plane flew well very well ,in fact it would almost turn on a dime and you could just drop it in and land. One day I was flying on my own as is the norm at the club I belong to . Thinking to myself man this thing flies so nice ,I turned it and then flew it right into the ground, Still can't believe I had such a real DUMB THUMB experience as that.

Re: I had an oops today

That tree must have some relatives where we fly now. New location as nitro was banned at our previous field, so I was still getting used to flying there and how the new SPAD looked coming at me.

Anyway, from where I stood it looked like the plane was in the center of the approach, till the tree jumped out and grabbed it.

My friend has a pic of it in the tree, but trying to figure out how to D/L it from his phone.

Oh, yeah. Found out coro gets brittle in really cold temps.
