1985 Hirobo Shuttle

Hey guys, just looking for some advice. A customer brought in this old heli, complete with an FM Futaba heli radio. It's not in the greatest shape, and the radio batts are toast. It's complete, but has been sitting around for 20+ years, so I'm sure the bearings would need to be redone.

He wants me to try and sell it for him, but I really have no idea what it's worth. I was thinking something in the 100-150 range. He didn't seem too pleased with me over that but I said I'll see what I can do. Any ideas? It would likely need quite a bit of work to get flying again without imploding.

On the other hand, I thought it would make a cool little scale heli for myself. Is there any conversion sets available for the older shuttles to make it:

A) the later updated version and
B) electric

Kinda just thinking out loud, but any input is appreciated.

Cheers
Greg

Re: 1985 Hirobo Shuttle

I doubt its even worth $100-150. Can't get parts for it, several decades old, old electronics ...

Yah I figured that. He was really hoping for 300-400$, and was super bummed when I told him otherwise. Ah well. Thems the breaks.

Re: 1985 Hirobo Shuttle

There are parts out there for it, but I agree, I think you would still be lucky to get $100 for it. From 1985, that would be one of the originals with the flybar on top, shorter blades, shorter tail boom. They did fly and weren't too bad to learn on, but that's about it. I remember doing a loop or two with mine... looked more like a hand written small L than an O.

At least it didn't look like an ampersand.

Re: 1985 Hirobo Shuttle

I sold an upscale version to a guy last year, I think I sold it to him for $50.00. That's about all you're going to get. Brand new, I had $1500 in it.

Re: 1985 Hirobo Shuttle

yah, that's what i figured. It's funny that people think that because a heli is old it somehow makes it valuable.
