Thank You RCC
Hi
Well I did it , I flew my LT-40 Sunday . I built it , finished it , brought it up in the air , trimmed it , and than landed it Wow Shaken all over . I earned my wings with an Alpha trainer ARF ( which I never liked , because I didn t build it ) and tried to have the LT-40 ready for the spring of this year , but the plane came out too heavy and had to start all over . I ended up buying the ARF to save the season to get my wings , which I did The LT-40 still came out too heavy 7.2 LBS . I had a Saito 56 in it with a 12x8 prop , I know , big mistake . Next I will try a 11x8 APC , the fist landing I broke the prop , it was too close to the ground . I plan on putting an OS 60 next summer , it should fly a lot better . This plane was my first atempt at building and at doing it with dope and Koveral . I had a lot of help from the people here at RC Canada I beleved that the people who helped me are the ones that should get some of the credit . Without there help I don t think that I would have done so well . I think the paint job looks bad , But the club members agreed that it was not a bad finish at all . thats only because I have higher expectations and that I want a better finish To all the people who support this site Thank You , Thank You , Thank You , I feel Good Sincerly Michel ( Mike ) |

Congratulations...!
an 11 x 8 is a bit steep for a Saito 56. You might want to try an 11 x6 or 11x 5.. Your weight is not that bad. The LT-40 has lots of wing area, so it probably doesn't even notice it....if anything it may fly a bit smoother in bumpy conditions.

Hey sounds great, Congrats!
I have 3 x Saito .56's and run a 12x6 APC prop on all with great results. Bob

Actually a 12 X 8 is just slightly over Saito's recommendations for proping a Saito 56. They recommend 11 X 6 to 12 X 7.
As Bob says, I have also used a 12 X 6 with good results. Remember, a four stroke can swing a larger prop than its 2 stroke counterpart due to the strong low end torc.

Don't worry about the LT-40 being a bit heavy. That wing will lift a lot. Mine had a 46FX on it and it flew with two candy dropper boxes under the wings and three pounds of weight in them. Sure, it took twice as much runway to get airborne, but it flew! Did some sloppy loops and rolls, too.

Hi
I will try the 12x6 prop , it sounds to me that it should work . If all you guys are useing that size prop it should work for me . The reason I was going for the 11x8 was because of the ground clearance . Dave you have inspirated me with the info that you have giveing me , neat I like the candy trick , 10 LBS WoW The reason It came out too heavy was deffinatly the finish , but it is a hobby in progress . Thanks for the prop sizes guys I will definatly try the props that you have reccommended I have just recieved my Tiger 60 with retracts , building time boys Takes care Michel ( Mike ) |

Hi
Ken and Gary Ive tryed the 12x6 and it flys great . I did four flights and the winds were really heard like 30 kph with gusts maybe higher , one plane fliped over on landing . but the LT flew without a mishap, doesn t the Saito 56 sound fantastic . I was really pleased with the flights today . The 12x6 prop was right on the money . SUPER-PLEASED Thanks a lot Michel ( Mike ) |
