Re: 12V adapters in parallel?
I posted this another thread:
Inexpensive (new) 12VDC power supplies: Portable cooler power supply (5.8A @ 12V) from Canadian Tire (Wal-Mart sells something similar), $29.99: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows...BConverter.jsp From my favorite online electronics retailer... Digikey.ca: (Note, they are from the US but their prices include all import duties and brokerage fees) 8.5A @ 12VDC switching power supply, $34.61: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...804-ND&x=0&y=0 12.5A @ 12VDC switching power supply, $40.20: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...1-ND&x=20&y=16 Last edited by philipa_240sx; 02-23-2010 at 07:07 AM. |

Re: 12V adapters in parallel?
I've looked at the Cooler Power Supplies before but quite honestly, I've had misgivings about just how clean the output is and would it upset these modern all-singing, all-dancing chargers? They come on special at a fair price quite often and I suppose one could put a bit of L-C filtering on the output - anybody tried one? The Peltier diode assembly in the cooler would not care about hash of course

I have since picked up one of those slim laptop power supplies on a deal. It's rated for 5A @ 12VDC. Much more compact than even the cooler style I used. Last edited by philipa_240sx; 02-23-2010 at 10:04 AM. |

Re: 12V adapters in parallel?
everything has internal resistance
even $2200 Xantrex switching power supplies, rack mount, 0-200Vdc, 3kW these supplies have digital displays for voltage and current, and adjustable voltage and current foldback diodes are still diodes, just determine size and double for safety connect sense directly to supply output all is well for this use PC supplies work best and are most $ efficient

Re: 12V adapters in parallel?
just reading this post a diode conducts in one dierction only the anode must be more positve than the cathode. silicon diode will drop .7 volts across it. this is the forward turn on voltage. with the diodes in the lead of each charger it cannot feed back into the other. moo is correct just not plain old english lol
