Solo is from the REAR SEAT.

The Yak 54 is an dual Aerobatic Trainer so the Instructor always sits in the back so he can knock the student unconcious if he does something stupid!
No seriously flown solo from the back seat.

Whos Yak 54 do you have? What are the specs?

Are you going to be flying Scale Aerobatics this year?

Trivia - in case you're interested.

Generally, choosing the rear seat in a tandem when flying solo is done for 2 reasons;

#1 - rearward CG (better maneuverability, especially aerobatics)
#2 - better visibility (below and forward for monoplanes, up and forward for biplanes)

Thanks for the info.No not doing any scale aerobatic's,just got a good deal on my Yak's.Yes that is plural,they are the CMPro ones .The 140and the 50 size. The 140 I have a MDS 148 in it and with 16 oz of weight to balance it.(knew it was tail heavy from the start).The 50 size I have an old Magnum 65 GP SE( had it Didn't need to buy another engine) I am hoping the extra size will help balance it without adding dead weight.So far it seems to be working.Should be able to just move battery for final balancing
