I have decided to jump into the 40% class myself. I will NOT power it with a 100cc sized engine though.
This will be a first for me.... i'm still getting used to 100cc class, last season was my first with those. Really fell for the Beast/Pythons in that size, put tonnes of flights on them.

I will try a monoplane first... but my goal will be a AW 150cc ultimate (don't have any ultimates)

EDIT: Sure would have loved to go right to a 200cc Quad and a Composite Biplane. forget who makes it.. probably Carf YUP CARF and the PITTS...

Yes, balsa build. Complete motorbox/wingtube assembly is made from very good aircraft ply...Not the cheap ply crap found on most ARF's.

Has a very nice tunnel and fitment of everything so far seems very good.

Yes it's a big plane, but one of the nicest big ARF's I've ever seen fly. Although I never flew Lorne's Slick, I could tell from watching it flew very similar to the 43% Extra 300 Trevor built for me....and....that was a sweet..sweet plane!!

Hanes, you would expect me to highly recommend the Hanger 9 Sukhoi. And I would, as I wait for my second one to land in Edmonton (for my ZDZ 160).
Keep us up to date. I love the 150 class stuff.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Funny part... I can't for the life of me, LAND a 100cc MONO plane.
the Bipes, not a problem, harrier landings. 3 foot roll outs etc no issue.

.. BUT those monoplanes are just to clean for me.

I have a wonderful 3W extra, Heavy, but clean. It just goes and goes and goes.. Can't seem to settle them down LOL.
I tend to fly way too tail heavy in the bipes(don't like them any other way), I think that maybe my setup problem with the mono's.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

My Sukhoi, was faster, and smooth when I started flying it. As I moved the CofG back through the season, it slows real nice now.
Same for both of the 38% Extra's I flew last year.
Hope this helps.

The instantaneous torque of a Quad is hard too match by any twin, related or not, no?
Lornes slick gets hauled around pretty good with the gp 176

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West
