What is synthesized PCM?

So, I'm getting to the point that I need a new radio. After doing some shopping, I'm up against the wall. The JR 10X has everything a guy needs and then some and so it should considering the price. However the Multiplex Royal Evo is a 12 channel and you can get the thing for 900 bones. The big issue is that it says it has synthesized PCM. What the heck is that. I want to go with a radio that will do PCM for the usual reasons, big planes and jets are in my future. What is synthesized PCM? Does it work the same way as PCM? Should I go with the EVO or put out the big bucks for the JR name?

I believe that means you can pick any open frequency. It also requires a special receiver.

I concur with fodder but the Rx shouldn't be a problem as you will get one with the radio. Only drawback would be that you could probably be able to only use a Multiplex EVO Rx.

What does their website have to say?

Ya, says that you fellas are correct on the website. Ya know, sometimes you go to a site and can't find diddly, the next time, its right there. Maybe its the sleep deprivation?

Thanks for the input fellas and ya, I don't know for sure, but I think you'd have to use a Multiplex Rx. Really, I don't think that would be a problem because there prices are lower than most.

Thanks

MPX

Hi, with MPX synth. you can use every receiver you want to use. It has a software-switch ( Menue-point ) so you can use Futaba or JR, whatever you want. You don't need a sync. receiver.

So you would have to use a Multiplex Rx if you want PCM?

I don't think Multiplex makes a pcm receiver anymore. Closest thing would be their IPD Rx.

So, is multiplex the way to go then. I mean, the whole idea behind buying an expensive radio is so you have PCM so you don't have to worry about the usual problems associated with FM. AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!
