There is no such thing as cheap carbon anymore. The military forces of the world are using composite materials like it's water.

Good sources of it are http://www.cstsales.com/ I'm not sure who else does mail order.

What size Edge is it? If it's a 1/9th scale one, you only need 1/8 thick and it's cheaper to buy it already made.

If you go with a 40 or 45% scale Edge, it's alot thicker.

Hi IRFANKHALID,

Carbon fibre matt is no good for a landing gear. You need CF tow, a good epoxy, a mold...

Better/easier to find a stiff/springy good aluminum blank to bend a landing gear from.

What size/type of plane is it?

Could be a stock LG available...

Take care,

Hi IRFAHKHALID,

Tow is a ribbon of carbon fibres all going in one direction. I used West brand which when wetted out is about 1in. wide and about 1/32in. thick. For a LG it can be layered with glass or CF cloth which builds up the thickness and ties the tow from splitting.

I have made LGs for .40 and under planes. It took me 4-5 parts to get the weight/springyness right.

I have become sensitized/alergic to epoxy resin and don't use it anymore. Be carefull.

I think there is a 'Composites constuction' forum on R/C Universe. There might be a 'How to' for CF landing gears...

Good luck with your project.

Take care,
Have fun,
