Fuse question

Hi all, I recently turned on my radio (JRXP783) and it was completely dead. I tried to charge. When the JR charger was plugged in the indicator was off. I tried a slow charge on my triton 2 charger, batteries charged but radio still not working. By luck I checked the fuse that sits under the transmitter module. It was burned out. So my question is how often does this happen? Can this happen when the plane is in the air? Why would this happen? I am fairly new to the hobby(1 year) and would appreciate any feedback...Thanks

Re: Fuse question

i have the same radio.783.this happens when you charge the radio with the wall charger that comes with the radio.this sometimes happens due to a bad connection from the wall charger.i seen this happen on a few jr radios.i have also a 9303 radio.two years now and haven,t had a fuse blow.this also happens with having different brands of radios and plugging in the wrong charger.i don,t think you will have to worry about your radio fuse blowing while your flying your plane.not saying it couldn,t happen but anything is possible.the only thing you have to watch out for is ,if your flying and your lithium backup battery is low.you will get a message on the radio saying backup error.you should then land immediatly.i keep a few fuses on hand, just in case.hope this helps.
