They're not going back!
Yup. Same here.

I had a couple of gyros go bad. One was mine and one was for a student of mine. I contacted HK for an RMA on both of them, which they authorized. So all I had to do was send them back and get 2 new ones.. But...

I paid 30 dollars for 2 gyros and a pittance to ship them here. Return for these 2 was about more than the worth of the gyros. So I just ordered 2 more and bought the bullet. The replacements worked flawlessly. So all told I paid 30 bucks each for these gyros, and that is still cheaper than an OEM one that I can get here. All told I have about 8HK gyros myself, and about 12 more were purchased by my students, and only these 2 were bad.

So in summary, you save quite a bit when buying for HK but you run the risk you might get a bad piece of kit. When that happens, you take your lumps. in the end, you still come out ahead.. If you don't want to take risk, then support your local hobby shop. Most around here have a pretty good return policy and will look after you if you have a defective part.

Re: Post Office Pirates!!

Yes Canada post sucks..............just don't blame HK on the shipping as they have no control over that from our end.

Cool Re: Post Office Pirates!!

Yeah I sent some stuff out west 3 months ago. Never got there. Out about $120 . No help from the RAIN SLEET OR SNOW GUYS. I think that some hunter must have shot their carrier pidgeon or the glue guy kidnapped the horse. Tom

Re: Post Office Pirates!!

I had the exact same problem with three dud receivers. I mailed them back with a canada post service called small packet. Total cost to china was less than $10.

No tracking but it does come with up to $100 in insurance. I decalared the value at $50 so if hobbyking says they never got it then no big loss.

Re: Post Office Pirates!!

Same problem here with 2 lipo batteries, $60 for the batteries, got 2 bad batteries (2 out of 2, go figure) Canada post wanted more than they cost to ship back. So, even though it costs more, I'll just continue to do my best to support the LHS's.

Re: Post Office Pirates!!

My lhs is 1 1/2 hrs away but I support it every chance I get. If they have what I need or can order it in, I buy there. If I just want to try something different but don't want to invest alot in it, I buy HK. ie: EDF- don't know if I will like it so I bought from HK, fan and engine total $20.00
Oh yeah, Hobbyking wanted me to send the rx's back with a tracking number for the package or they would not honor the warranty.

Re: Post Office Pirates!!

Sometimes it's just easier to throw them in the garbage.

If you noticed they were bad soon enough, you could have put them back in the original package and "return to sender".

Re: Post Office Pirates!!

I generally check my stuff right at the post office. If it's not what I asked for or is damaged she goes right back without any questions or extra costs involved.
That is of course if it is an item you can readlly see is defective.
