Engine for truggy?

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Hi, I wanted to choose between some motors it's either going to be a 3 or 5 port. The truggy i have is a kyosho st-rr. Here are the motors that are in my list:
RB S3 II L2G
Novarossi N21B 2000
RB S5 L2G
Trinity Ex-Tech

I honestly want to spend $250 max on a engine $200 would be better.I chose these engines because, i know there known for there quality and longevity also they have power and price is really good. I just want some input because, some people say this engine is bad this engine is not powerful etc. Also this my main question would a 3 port engine be good enough for a truggy? Any inputs would be much appreciated. Thanks. Tekno.

re

I have tried the Nova rossi in my buggy and truggy and I just don't think it has enough power in the truggy. I would recommend the RB S5.

Ashton the OS V-spec is the only 3 port suitable for a truggy. But that's a $300 motor .For your price range ,I'd go for the 5port GO,or the RB S5.
I will be running the new Ninja JX21BOA1 sweet mill built by OS for Mugen Seiki www.ninja-engine.com

I am going to save up some more money and i might get the jx engine or maybe a rb s5 and pipe combo!Chewy have you herd about the life on the jx motors? I know rb's are good on life what about the JX? Thanks for the inputs! keep them coming lol! tekno.

good truggy motors

hey ashton,

if your on a tight budget the go tech 21 5 port is a great motor to put in a truggy. price wise they cant be beat. what other motor can you buy a piston ,sleeve and conrod for less than 100 bucks?

another motor you might want to check out is the picco p7r evo2.
this motor has more than enough power for a truggy and it holds its tune very well. i dont think ive ever had my evo flame out on me yet and it gets excellent fuel mileage on the track.

if you can offord to spend a few more bucks the rb concept c6 is another great engine for a truggy.

the os v spec is another good choice as well. alot of power and are fairly easy to tune.

You can get the V Spec at Tower hobbies for $300 then use the $60 off coupon.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXGPF0&P=ML
That's what I did, except I was able to use a $75 coupon.
They charged me like $25 for shipping though, then you got the exchange rate.
I never got nailed with customs, but they are hit & miss.
The Vspec will not disappoint you...

Once you get to the $300 mark there are many choices. The Ninja JX is a great engine. Comes with the DLC coating that is in the speed. The new Nova Rossi 21 Plus 4 is less than $300 and is suppose to be very good as well. The Nova Rossi P5XS might be in your price range also.

I run the GO 5 port in my X2 and it pulls the X2 fine. For $210 its a great value. It is a bit of a pain to break in but well worth the $.

I've rin the RB 3 port in a truggy before and while it will work the power wasn't quite there really. I've seen RB 5 ports in an ST-R and they worked great. I would highly recommend that one from the list you gave.

The C6 is killer in a truggy, that's what I have in mine, but the 5 port will be good as well.
