You definitely need to match servo reversing switches and trims between both radios. And as Bartman mentioned, you must perform a ground test of the controls.

Could a DX5e be linked to another DX5e and this would work?
You can link ANY of the Spektrum radios and many of the JR ones as well.

Another thing...

The master TX provides the power. Generally, you leave the slave TX switched OFF and it powers up once plugged into the master.

Re: DX5e buddybox

Other question...

If I get a Turnigy 9x and plug into dx5e for buddy box, would this work? DO I have to modify trainer port or firmware?

Re: DX5e buddybox

If you try a Google search, it appears that a few have tinkered with the 9X trainer port and managed to get it to work as a buddy box with a Spektrum TX. It does require some modifications to the radio however.

I have never done this myself, so you are on your own if you try this.

Re: DX5e buddybox

Yeah I saw the resistance mod for the trainer port, but also just found the wireless buddy box at HK, this seems very very interesting, matches any remote with any other remote!

Re: DX5e buddybox

The HK wireless buddybox requires that you install TWO receivers in the plane and connect both of them to the wireless buddy box module. The servos in turn are connected to the buddy box module.

The master RX connection includes a control channel which you must plug into the appropriate channel on the RX. In the case of the DX5e, you would use either the GEAR channel, or AUX1 (which is activated by the trainer switch) as your control channel.

As for binding, you simply bind the master TX to the master RX and the slave TX to the slave RX. You DO NOT bind both.

During flight, you can toggle the GEAR or Trainer (AUX1) switch to switch between Master/Slave.

You can read the manual here:
