Re: ordering from hobbyking usa
what all do you need from HK? I may have some of it here and local. UPS tends to charge fees when they get to your door.

Re: ordering from hobbyking usa
UPS will almost always charge a brokerage fee for importing anything into Canada...I've never ordered from the US warehouse because of this.
Others will chime in here I'm sure, but basically if it's UPS shipping only I won't order... If HK offered USPS shipping from the US warehouse into Canada, I'm sure their sales into Canada would increase. Jazzbone |

Re: ordering from hobbyking usa
Hi Darcy , the real question would be if they would ding us taxes and customs fees. If all was looked after probably would be atleast the minimum fee of $25.00 for the brokerage and getting through customs. but I would rather not find out the hard way.

Any company that will not ship first class mail I will not deal with them. priority post is about twice the amount of first class mail.

Re: ordering from hobbyking usa
Hi,
I have twice ordered from the US warehouse. Both times they were 2 x 5800 x 6S lipos weighing 3.5 lbs. However, I had them sent to a holding address in Niagara Falls NY & drove down to pick them up. Shipping was USPS for $11. Fee to holding company was US$5.95. It was supposed to be 5 day delivery but they actually arrived quicker than that. To get same from HK would have been approx. 3 weeks & shipping $54 international mail. So even though I had to pay for gas, it was slightly less total cost. My main motivation, however, was that I needed them quicker than HK delivery would have given me. Coming back across the border, you can bring in $100 duty free per visit regardless of duration of stay (I was in US less than an hour). Above that I believe you have to pay HST (coming into Ontario) on the full amount but no "duty" as such. I have done the same thing for auto parts from an online warehouse that cost 20% of what they cost from the Honda dealer here & the same rules applied. This approach may not suit everyone but it worked well for me. RB |
