Big German

Got this from my good friend Frank this morning, a big German 150 two stroke.
Heavy brute with a cast aluminum case and nose cone but very cool. Hope to run it up tomarrow if flying doesn't get in the way. The motor is a Suevia 150

Re: Big German

Nice, looks like a bombproof 2-stroker. What are you going to by using it for?

Re: Big German

Well I ran her up this morning, not a real screamer but definately an a$$ kicker. Started first flip and with a bit of leaning on the high speed and quite a bit of leaning on the low speed she managed to gobble up a 10oz tank on an 18x8 in about 2min. Yes it's a thirsty one and somewhat of an anvil but none the less extremely
If I don't fly it maybe I'll shape some aluminum on it

Re: Big German

Hey Bill

My guess is since it is a European engine it will need next to no nitro. Maybe just 2 % to 5% for a clean idle. It should crank a big prop though.
Your Cox engines and all of mine are having a great time together LOL! Just like long lost friends. I heard chatter from the basement all night...
Just imagine if they could talk? All the stories they would have. I have way too many engines. Hey wait a minute, the London swap is next Sunday, more engines. Life is good.

Re: Big German

That looks like a hand made prototype. Is it? Or is it a production engine?

Re: Big German

I believe it is just one of the production engines Rob. Excellent condition but no paperwork or box. I just like the really rare and oddball stuff, nice for show and tell

Re: Big German

If it is NIB the motor will be excellent not sure what to tell you John I know a good one when I fondle it for a few minutes but there are so many things to look for. Most of the time if the motor is very clean and bearings smooth, no broken parts etc. you will be fine.
