!/8 better not be dying

After reading the thread on the 1/8 cars in Ontario and only having a car that fit in the class by physical size only I decided to look around for a better fit to that class of car
Yesterday I bought this, it came with some extra parts. It has a bit of rash but it's a used car and the price was right.

Woah, nice score Randy! Don't usually see used 1/8GT's around the GTA.

Here are two links for more info on your car. That should keep you busy for awhile

Re: !/8 better not be dying

I was just going to tighten the front end with the bearing ackerman arm, get a servo as you suggested, the high speed diff gear sets, maybe a good set of bearings and some soft tires.
But it is complete enough and in good enough condition that I can run it as is.
By the looks of it I think it is tough enough that it won't require upgrades to the entire driveline and suspension.

Re: !/8 better not be dying

The ball bearing ackerman is a good choice. It gets rid some of the bump steer and improves corner entry accuracy. I also suggest getting the arm braces. I was shocked to see how much play there was.

Another good mod is changing the camber and toe links to links off a Traxxas Jato(at least the fronts if not rear too). The stock ones have a bit too much slop. Definitely inspect all bearings, even the ones in the diff, wheel hubs and center spool bearings.

I can't wait till spring. I have to get my ride ready for some competition! Haha

Re: !/8 better not be dying

Regarding tires for 1/8GT. The stock tires that come with the OFNA are pretty hard compound and only good for drifting on low grip tracks. They do however handle decent on high grip pavement like at Richmond Green.

If you plan to run alot at Richmond Green and that type of pavement, I suggest not running too soft of a tire. Either way, the rough pavement will eat tires so plan on buying an extra set of tires.

Randy, if you need tires or a new body, I might have an extra set I can sell.

Re: !/8 better not be dying

I have a couple of sets of medium belted GRPs and a set of slightly softer sweep belted and various foams. I was thinking I needed a very soft like 35 or 40 for that pavement. But from what you are saying I might be ok with what I have at least for now.
I just ordered a Warrior GT body for speed runs but what have you got for the 360mm wb ?

Re: !/8 better not be dying

Oh nice, sounds like you are set on tires. Good choices too.

I have a prepainted Audi R8 body (not the Kyosho). If you are interested I can post a picture or you can see my ad on kijiji.
